Every December, there comes a point where Christmas stops being something you’re looking forward to and starts being something you’re managing. The lists get longer. The diary fills up. Somebody needs picking up from somewhere, the present you ordered hasn’t arrived, and the one evening you’d kept free has quietly disappeared.

The 12 Days of Christmas Advent begins on 14th December and runs to Christmas Day, the final stretch, when the chaos really starts to build. Twelve days. Twelve small moments that are just for you, before everything else takes over.

•  Follow the packaging. Each day’s instructions are on the box — read them, then take your time.
• Breathe in. Properly. Scent is closely tied to mood and memory, so give it a moment to work.
